What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical treatment option for conditions such as sciatica, herniated disc, degenerative disc, chronic or acute lower back.  Spinal Decompression Therapy not only works on the back, it can also treat  painful conditions in the neck such as neck pain, pain radiating down the arm, shoulder pain.  

How Does It Work?

Spinal Decompression Therapy works by removing the squeezing pressure on a nerve caused by a slipped or injured disc whether it is in the neck or lower back. The patient is positioned on a motorized table which gently stretches or decompresses the spine.  As the spine gradually decompresses, negative pressure is created within the disc allowing the disc to retract back into the spine.  By doing so, the symptoms associated with a bulging or herniated disc such as sciatica, numbness and tingling are greatly reduced.  Stretching of the spine using a decompression table also move blood, nutrients and oxygen back into the disc promoting more healing.
