There are many lower back pain causes . The entire spine comprises of numerous moving parts working together to help you move. The lower back also known as the lumbar spine bears the weight of everything above it. This makes lower back pain one of the most common condition 80% of adults will experience in their lifetime. Most sufferers of lower back pain spend most of the time sitting which can create more problems. Lower back pain can be categorized into acute back injury and chronic pain.
Acute back injury are injuries which occurs quickly usually after an event such as lifting, sitting too long, car accidents, slips/ falls, bending etc. Acute back pain can also be noticeable 1 or 2 days after your activity which makes most people wonder what caused their back pain. Problems in the muscles, ligaments, disc, bone or joint may develop inflammation leading to back pain. It can be difficult to determine the exact cause of where the pain is occurring because the lower back has a vast network of nerves connecting to all the structure of the spine not just the lower back. Pain existing across the lower back on both sides of the spine is a common experience for most back pain suffers. Pain can also radiate down your leg that may stop at the back of the knee or even the bottom of your foot which is known as sciatica. Lower back pain symptoms may include sharp pain, radiating pain, numbness, dull, achy or constant pain.
Chronic pain is described as pain which is present for 12 weeks or longer. This type of pain often develops after you have sustained an injury. Most chronic back pain patients report pains that are dull and achy at times. Some admit noticing pain especially in the back every morning after waking up and feeling better after a few steps or after a hot shower. It is not uncommon to feel chronic pain before a change in the weather such as before rainfall.
